Myths and legends: Tenten and Caicai
In the island territory of Chiloé, according to the Mapuche stories and other native peoples of southern Chile there were two snakes, Tenten, guardian of the earth and Caicai, guardian of the sea were adversaries, one day Caicai to see that humans were ungrateful to the products of the sea, he became angry provoking a flood ordering the waters to flood the valleys and hills, and to bring all the inhabitants to the bottom of the sea. When Tenten saw that the inhabitants and animals were desperate and that the men invoked it, and as per her father's orders, she was the one who should provide them with wisdom and protection; He decided to help human beings. Tenten ordered the mountains to grow to save terrestrial life, this fight lasted a long time, until they got tired leaving the current chiloe territory.
The connection with reality would be with the gazing period after the ice period that occurred in the northern hemisphere of the planet, if we look at it from the religious point of view it would be the story of the flood and Noah's ark, extinguishing those who were not worthy from God's point of view. I like the story because it is entertaining and it was one of the first ones I heard when I traveled to the south of Chile, in addition to that it sounds very similar to Nordic stories.
